Kitsap Transit is our local transit service and operates foot ferry routes to and from Port Orchard + Bremerton. Every 30 minutes foot ferries leave Bremerton and make their way across Sinclair Inlet to our beautiful downtown. On the Bremerton side, the foot ferry terminal and the Washington State Ferry (WSF) terminal are located side by side, making it easy for travelers to journey from Seattle to Port Orchard without a vehicle. Forms of payment accepted are cash or Orca Card. No advanced ticket purchase is required.

Riding over from Seattle? You’ll find the Seattle > Bremerton ferry schedule on the Washington State DOT site.

*Foot Ferry History: Before roads, our area relied on boats for transportation and commerce. The inlets and bays of Puget Sound made for a natural transportation route. It was a loosely connected and ever-changing group of privately operated steamboats that served Puget Sound communities – large and small – from around 1860 until the early 1930s. They were called the ‘Mosquito Fleet’ and their heyday ended in the 1930s when competition with rail and road transportation put the fleet out of business. Today, only one remaining steamer, Carlisle II, is in rotation on the foot ferry schedule.
