Hello, I’m James!

James Weaver serves the Port of Bremerton as the Marine Facilities Director for the Port of Bremerton, overseeing all waterfront Port-owned property and development. This includes managing the Port Orchard & Bremerton marinas, Harper Pier, multiple public boat launches, and Port parks in Bremerton, Port Orchard, Chico, and South Kitsap County.

He is responsible for all grant writing, operation, financial, permitting, and capital project construction for the Port waterfront infrastructure.

With over 20 years of experience as a public official in Kitsap County, James has held various positions, including City Development Director and Building Official. His leadership in construction, land use, and building development span multiple jurisdictions, including the City of Bainbridge Island, Port Orchard, Kitsap County DCD, and King County.

James holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the New School of Design and a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Finance from San Diego State University. James has pursued ongoing professional education over the decades of his career and has attained numerous certifications and training including Certified Building Official, American Institute of Certified Planners, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificates.

Throughout his career, he has volunteered on multiple boards, including the Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters, Habitat for Humanity, the Olympic International Building Code Council, and the Peninsula Section of the Washington American Planning Association.

In recognition of his contributions, James was awarded ‘Public Official of the Year’ by the Kitsap Home Builders Association in 2010. He was also instrumental in securing the ‘2023 Port of the Year’ award from the Washington Public Ports Association.

James resides with his wife, Melody, and two dogs Gryfin and Rogue on Liberty Bay in Poulsbo.
