Meet the Board | Shelby Nelson

 hello!

Hello, I’m Shelby!

My journey in Port Orchard began when I fell in love with this charming waterfront town after acquiring The Brick House Bar & Grill on Bay Street.

I bring over a decade of hospitality industry experience to our downtown business community, and I have been honored to call the Kitsap Community home for 20 years.

When I’m not at the restaurant, you might find me exploring local trails, enjoying horseback riding adventures, or riding snowmobiles in the mountains. These outdoor pursuits have deepened my appreciation for our region’s natural beauty.

My passion for Port Orchards downtown led me to join the board to help enhance our event calendar, promote cross-business collaboration, and strengthen our community. I believe downtowns thrive when we create unique experiences – from our current seasonal festivals and farmers market to street fairs and holiday celebrations that showcase our local talent and businesses.

I’m passionate about supporting the programs that highlight our scenic waterfront, historic architecture, and the personal connections that make downtown shopping and dining unique. By supporting the board in coordinating evening events, implementing collaborative marketing strategies, and enhancing our downtown viability, we can continue to develop a district that represents our community’s character.

As a parent to three wonderful children, ages 11 to 22, I’m deeply invested in creating a downtown that serves families for future generations. I’m grateful for the community’s support of POWA and look forward to contributing to Port Orchard’s bright future.
