Meet the Board | Monika
‘24 President
hello!
I’m Monika Adams,
the Owner of Alchemy Wellness.
When I think of the factors that have shaped me I would include these details: I grew up on Vashon Island. It probably comes as no surprise that I served in ASB, and was a cheerleader in high school. I've lived in Hawaii, California, and Oregon, and I've had my home in Port Orchard for over 20 years.
When I first came to Port Orchard I became one of the founding members of WWCA. With the other founding members (Jan, Asha, and Dennis) we wrote, presented, and received a Building for the Arts Campaign and received $165k (my first contribution to our community).
I served on the POBSA Board as Secretary/Treasurer back in 2002. I carried a file box to the meetings, and we ran your card with a hand-pressure credit card imprinter! LOL. I think I have seen over 10 presidents serve this wonderful organization.
Personally, I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber Art, and a Minor in Women's Studies from UW. I also have a Masters in Adult Education from Antioch Seattle. I have been a Licensed Manual Therapist since 2010, and I own Alchemy Wellness—my third wellness center. I love being connected to this community. I've been on the board for over 12 years—but who's counting?
I chose to become president to co-lead with Sarah Johnson. She's a visionary with talents for content creation, and I bring my passion for structure and logistics. I am honored to lead this amazing group and hope to have a positive and lasting impact on our community.
We've got lots going on downtown. It will take patience, kindness, and perseverance to weather the ever-shifting construction projects over the next several years. I truly believe that together we are stronger. I hope you will join us in our mission to make downtown vibrant and thriving.
